Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)

Seniors and Children Enriching Each Others’ Lives

Jean and a student read together

The Foster Grandparent Program provides opportunities for low-income seniors to contribute to their community as they engage children at risk on a one-to-one basis in school and non-profit settings.

Grandparents serve a 20 hours per week or more. Because of this consistent presence the children are able to build a close trusting relationship. Foster Grandparents serve as positive role models and have the time to listen to children. Because of the depth of the relationship, beyond just school work, they have a great impact on the future of this country. While the activity they are engaged in may be reading or math - the greater gift the seniors give is the building of character for the future leaders and citizens of our country.
